Updates and changes to Design SHELL (tm)

Version 5.0c
~~~~~~~~~~~~
1>- In previouse versions of the disk utility module, if you
attempted to copy or move files to the same drive and directory,
all files on the source disk would be erased or stripped to
0 bytes. This problem has been corrected.
2>- A new option has been added to the main menu (*) that provides
a way of toggling the menu title fonts to black & white or 3D.
3>- The disk Utility module will now access and copy files from
a CD ROM drive.

1>- You may now return to the main menu from any sub menu level
by pressing the Tab key or clicking your left mouse button
on the menu title bar.
2>- The password files are now scrambled.
3>- The disk utility module will now read a write protected disk.

1>- A new option has been added to the Setup menu that provides an
option for toggling a screen grid on or off. This screen grid
feature provides a very handy way for aligning menu items.
2>- A new option has been added to the Setup menu that provides an
option for displaying background screen images (wallpaper).
These screen images can be edited or created with the included
Icon editor.
3>- A full featured text file editor has been added to Design SHELL
that can be accessed from the main menu or from the directory/
file utility module.
4>- Many of the system Icons have been changed.
5>- Added copy and paste features to the menu editor. These options
provide a way of copying and pasting menu titles.
6>- In the Icon Editor, pull down menus have been added for selecting
font types, font colors, and screen background colors.
7>- In the Icon Editor, an option has been added to toggle the
drawing board grid on or off.
8>- Several more font types have been added to the fonts menu.
9>- In the Icon Editor, The Tool bar has been totally changed and
several new tools have been added. New tools: Rotate, Flip,
UnDo, Box, Filled Box, Circle, Filled Circle.
10>- Prompts have been added for each tool and is displayed at the
bottom of the screen while scanning the tools with the mouse.
11>- In the Directory/File utility module, a new option has been added
for editing text files.
12>- In the Directory/File utility module, a new option has been added
that provides a way of editing the disk volume label.
13>- In the Directory/File utility module, a new option has been added
that provides a front end for the McAfee virus scan utility.
14>- Due to numerous requests, the drop down directory selecting
menu's in all modules have been changed from a graphic tree
display to text display and are sorted in alphabetical order.
15>- A new option has been added to the Setup menu that provides an
option to setup the default path for the text editor.
16>- When adding or editing a menu selection, if you have selected
to make a selection a sub menu (Menu (Y/N) = Y). If you set
the Pause to Yes (Pause (Y/N), then all text entered at the
Command and Prompt fields will be displayed in a window with
word wrap, to the user at selection time. This option allows
displaying a user prompt for a sub menu selection.
Version 4.0a

1>- Extended the Sub Menu levels to four levels deep, with this
you may have up to 810,000 menu or file selections.
2>- Added the Hotkey character to the menu option display.
3>- Added the ability to read Icon files from any drive or directory.
4>- When selecting Icons, Up to five DOS paths are saved and displayed
in a scrolling pick menu for accessing Icon files.
5>- In the Icon editor, clicking your right mouse button will pick
up the color at the current cursor location anywhere on screen
and make it the paint color.
6>- In the Icon editor, the erase option now clears the Icon drawing
board to the current paint color.
7>- When listing Icons from the pick Icon screens, you may now scroll
up or down the Icon list one page at a time.
8>- One more font color has been added, making a total of four.
9>- When adding Menu or File options to the menu, the PgDn option
has been made a little more visible. Pressing the PgDn while
at the Drive, Directory, Command, and Icon fields will bring
up a scrolling pick menu with a list of the appropriate items
for these fields that you can pick from.
10>-At the Icon field, you may enter a complete path and filename of
the Icon file you want to be displayed with each menu selection.
11>-The Icon Editor has been removed as part of the main EXE file
and is now a standalone EXE file (ICONEDIT.EXE). This was done
to improve execution speed of the main module (DESIGN.EXE).
12>-An Icon conversion utility (ICO2ICN.EXE) has been added that
will convert Windows Icon files (*.ICO) to the Design SHELL
format (*.ICN). Note! The Windows (*.ICN) files may also
be converted with this utility by simply renaming them to
the (*.ICO) file extension.
13>-When adding applications to Design SHELL, you may now press the
PgDn key at the Hotkey field to list all active Hotkeys.
Version 3.0c

1>- Tested running under MS-DOS 6.0
2>- Tested using the new PK-ZIP version 204g Archive Utility.
3>- A problem returning from the utility module (on error), running
under MS-DOS v6 has been corrected.
4>- A new option has been added to the ZIP Menu that allows unzipping
a single ZIP file while bypassing the Zipped file list.
5>- A manual has been included with this version (MANUAL.DOC).
Version 3.0b

1>- A new password option has been added to the Setup module
that allows setting up a password for the entry to Design SHELL.
2>- A problem in the Utility module that was causing out of string
errors has been fixed. The utility module will now read up to
320 directories on any one drive.
3>- Some of the Design SHELL program Icons have been changed.
4>- A problem of the mouse not moving to the bottom of the screen
with some mouse drivers has been fixed.
5>- A user warning prompt is now displayed when deleting Icons in
the Icon editor. You now have to answer Yes or No to
continue the delete of a Icon.
6>- Page Up and Page Down options have been added to all scrolling
menus.
Version 3.0a

1>- A complete Directory and File utility module has been added
that provides options for Creating, Renaming, or Erasing
directories. Provides options for Copy, Rename, Erase,
Move, View text files, and setting file attributes. This
module also provides a complete SHELL menu for the populer
PKWARE's archiving program (PKZIP).
Version 2.1a

1>- In the Icon editor, a new option has been added that allows
moving an Icon file from one Drive/Directory to another
Drive/Directory.
2>- In the Icon Editor, a new option has been added that allows
changing the Drive/Directory (Path) that Icons can be loaded
or saved to while in the Icon Editor.
3>- While in the password setup routines, you may now escape
out at any time by pressing the ESC key.
Version 2.0a

1>- A problem found in the password routines was causing the loss
of the mouse cursor at verious times. This has been fixed.
2>- The Icon Editor was not saving the changes made to the last
pixle line in the Icon file. This has been fixed.
3>- A new option that provides a way to re-set the mouse cursor
speed has been added to the setup routines.
4>- A new option that provides a way to re-set the keyboard speed
and delay rate has been added to the setup routines.
5>- A new option has been added in the Icon Editor that provides
a way to scroll the Icon Up/Down/Left/Right on the editor.
6>- In the earlier version, it was very easy to out run the editor
with the mouse cursor. The editor is much faster now and it is
virtually impossable to out run it with the mouse cursor.
7>- When selecting a menu or file option, if you have selections
stacked on the screen, the top most selection will be selected
when clicked on with the mouse.
8>- In the setup routines, you now have a new option that allows
turning Icon shading On or Off.
